Why It's Not Hard to Buy Las Vegas New Construction Homes

"One thing some local Realtors sure are good at is Las Vegas new home sales," said Donald Wilcox. "And they have to be. What with Vegas being the boom town and all. There's a lot of folks who will be living with bulldozers for awhile. As new communities spring out of the desert."

52 year old Wilcox went on "The clamor for affordable housing coupled with a seemingly never ending stream of people moving into the Vegas Valley area for jobs or retirement has created a huge demand for houses. Of course I guess that's no a secret anymore."

Yet sales of new homes in Las Vegas slowed 9.1 percent in April 2006. Losing steam as interest rates rose. But that doesn't mean they'll be down for long.

Of course more new homes means more housing choices. And more jobs to develop all that property.

But with so many new construction homes in Las Vegas you'd expect some drawbacks.

More people moving in means more traffic congestion. And US 95 and 215 are bad enough as it is.

Then there's the need for more schools. And teachers.

Plus you'll need more police, fire and other services from local government. Not to mention medical care and a convenient place to buy food, diapers or do your banking.

Construction of new houses goes on seemingly around the clock. Often even on Sundays. As developers scramble to keep up with demand.

Las Vegas new home inspection before you move in.

Anyway, there are advantages to booming new home sales. Las Vegas surely has benefited from them. But many have experienced the temporary drawbacks of so many new residents and new construction homes in Las Vegas too.
